To my loyal fans...

I was just reminded by a “loyal fan” of this (supposed) blog that I haven’t updated it in a while. So here’s the update:

• The dissertation is done. It’s been done for 1.5 years. Yeah, I know. I should have more time to update this thing more often now. 
• I now live in the Phoenix area. 
• I’m a post-doc with the Performance and Learning Models (PALM) Team, which is part of the Air Force Research Laboratory. My co-workers are awesome. 
• And most importantly, I’m married! (I can’t believe I hadn’t added that to my blog until now. I think that’s a sure sign that this blog is dead unless something revives it... Clear!! 
• Beth and I will most likely be moving to Dayton, OH some time in the next year. More later (maybe).

Still Alive

Just a quick update to let anyone (or no one) that reads this that I’m still alive. Here’s the update:

• I’m writing my dissertation. I should be done writing this month! 
• I’m planning a trip to Florence, Italy! I’ll be attending CHI2008. I’ll also likely visit friends and colleagues in Trento, Italy and Lugano, Switzerland. 
• Beth and I went to a wedding at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. One of the most beautiful and impressive places I’ve ever been. I probably should make a separate post on it soon. The (very bad) picture above is from second floor of the lodge. Notice the snow to the top of the tall window. 
• Related to the last, I’ve been snowboarding twice this year and plan on going at least once more. I’m finally getting the hang of it. The first time I hyperextending a thumb, bruised some ribs, and came down with the flew! The second time (at Timberline) I kicked ass! Sure, I fell a lot. But I also started carving and racing down the hills. 
• One of Beth’s grandmas is in the hospital. She’s doing better, but do please send positive thoughts her way. 
• I’m helping Thom move to his new place in town, just a few blocks from my place.

Seattle Marathon

Beth ran in this year’s Seattle Marathon. I’m so proud of her! This is her second marathon this year, and third overall. She has a goal of running a marathon in each U.S. state. Three down, forty seven to go!

Great visit to Iowa

Just a quick (belated) note:

Beth, Thom, and I had a great trip to Iowa. We went there to visit family and so that Beth could run in the Des Moines marathon. Beth and my family got along wonderfully! Thom’s visit was a surprise to everyone in Iowa. [That was fun!] While it was inconvenient to take a vacation mid-term, I’m really glad we did it.

What will you’re 10-20 be on 10/20?

I’ll be in Iowa visiting family. My girlfriend and I are flying there this week. More specifically, on 10/20 we’ll be driving to Des Moines, IA. Beth will run in the Des Moines marathon on the 21st.

This will be the first time Beth met my family, with the exception of my brother. Wish her luck. They can be a handful. [Just kidding. You know I love you.]
